Corporate and Social Responsibility
There’s a lot of debate currently on sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The truth is FBC Manby Bowdler has always considered its approach to CSR and how it supports its Partners, employees, clients, communities and the marketplace. We just haven’t shouted about it yet!
Now that we have a CSR focus group in place, this Firm is able to set out its CSR strategy demonstrating how CSR is a real business issue and forms part of everything we do – because it matters.
Through implementing the strategy below CSR gives us a real opportunity to make a difference whether that is to reduce our impact on the environment, support local charitable organisations or engage effectively with Partners, employees and other contacts alike.
People – only by attracting, engaging and retaining the very best Partners and employees can we achieve our vision and our business plan, continually developing our workplace.
Environment – to quote other initiatives our aim is to reduce, reuse and recycle so that our impact on the environment is minimised wherever possible.
External contacts – as the leading regional legal firm, we naturally get involved with other people, whether these are suppliers, contractors, clients or community partners, it is our responsibility to ensure we learn from each other and encourage others to join us in ensuring responsible business practices and ethics are at the forefront of our operation.
Community – we work within large communities both in the West Midlands and Shropshire. A developing area for us currently although we do work closely with Beacon Centre for the Blind and Severn Hospice as our corporate charity partners and are always seeking ways of improving our community relations.
In it’s first year the CSR group will focus on:
• Costs efficiencies
• Reducing our carbon footprint – as individuals and as an organisation
As well as strengthening activities already in place, e.g. charitable support, work experience programme and sponsorship.
We have some ambitious goals around sustainability and as a result will develop our understanding of and contribution to CSR and where we have the opportunity will share our experiences.
