FBC Manby Bowdler Joins Certainty- 25/01/2010
West Midlands law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has become a founder member of Certainty, the national electronic Will search and Will registration facility.
People who make or hold Wills at FBC Manby Bowdler can now opt to have them put on the Certainty register to ensure that their relatives know that they have made a Will and where it is kept.
“Two thirds of people questioned in a recent survey did not know where to locate their parents’ Wills, which means their parents’ final wishes might not be respected and they could miss out on some part of their inheritance,” says Ian Fallon, a partner in FBC Manby Bowdler’s Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning Department.
The Certainty on-line register records where a Will is held, but provides no details of what it contains, so the Will remains confidential.
Using a member law firm the Will register can also be used to search for missing Wills among other member firms.
“This new registration facility will help provide further peace of mind for people writing Wills that their wishes will be respected and any potential disputes over inheritance avoided,” concludes Mr Fallon.
The new registration and search facility is available at FBC Manby Bowdler’s offices in Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Telford, Bridgnorth and Willenhall.
