New Specialist IT-IP Group Launched- 18/01/2010

West Midlands law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has established a specialist Intellectual Property and Information Technology (IP/IT) group to deal with the growing number of clients seeking its help in these specialist areas of business law.

Led by partner Stuart Rea, the four strong team, based across the law firm’s Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury and Telford offices, will help advise clients on licensing and protecting Intellectual Property and all aspects of Information Technology within an organisation.

Services include registration and protection of trademarks, copyright, design rights and patents, as well as the licensing and use of all aspects of technology, as well as advice on the use of IT and IT contracts.

“This new group brings together as one unit the specialist services which we are already offering as a firm on a regional basis to local companies in the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire,” says Mr Rea.

“The West Midlands has always been an especially creative place, but with the gradual transfer of non-specialist manufacturing industry overseas, helping local businesses protect and exploit new products, processes and ideas is crucial for the future prosperity of the region.

“Losing Intellectual Property rights can cost a business millions of pounds, but getting it right can be equally beneficial. We recently advised Shrewsbury company Surewaters Consulting Limited on obtaining the exclusive European rights to a waste water cleaning process for use in the food processing industry, which has already led to it landing potential advance orders worth more than £5 million.”

Clients can access the services of FBC Manby Bowdler’s IP/IT Group via any one of its five offices in Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Telford, Bridgnorth and Willenhall.

With 36 partners, FBC Manby Bowdler is the fourth largest law firm in the West Midlands.
