Compensation for Further Injury at Wolverhampton City Council Events- 12/10/2010

West Midlands’ law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has helped another clubber win compensation after slipping and injuring herself during an evening out at a nightclub event organised by Wolverhampton City Council.

The Willenhall office of FBC Manby Bowdler won £2,300 compensation, plus costs, for a young woman claimant who slipped and fractured her wrist at a special “Cheeky Monkey” nightclub event held at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in May 2008.

Represented by Mrs Sandra Buxton, Senior Legal Executive at FBC Manby Bowdler, and Mr Steve Fisher, Counsel of Kew Chambers, the claimant was successful at Birmingham County Court on 6th October 2010.

This case against Wolverhampton City Council follows FBC Manby Bowdler successfully representing six claimants in winning £75,000 in compensation, plus costs, in a court case in July this year (2010) for injuries also sustained at events organised by Wolverhampton City Council.

Once again the claimant alleged that Wolverhampton City Council had taken insufficient steps to ensure that the floors were kept clean; that drinks were kept away from the dance floor; and that sufficient cleaning and monitoring staff were employed.

Tim Gray, Partner and Head of FBC Manby Bowdler’s Personal Injury Department said: “Unfortunately such incidents at Council organised events keep coming to light, but we have a successful track record in ensuring the injured parties get compensation for their injuries, inconvenience and time off work”

FBC Manby Bowdler tackles a wide range of personal injury work, gaining clients compensation for injuries from a whole range of accidents including slips and trips, accidents at work, and road traffic accidents.

In the last 12 months the firm has secured a number of major settlements for clients, including a £4.5 million settlement to pay for accommodation and 24-hour care; a settlement equivalent to £2 million, two settlements of over £500,000 for pedestrians who suffered head injuries, one of whom will suffer life long epilepsy; and a £700,000 settlement for a car passenger left wheelchair dependent.

The 16 strong Personal Injury Department is based in FBC Manby Bowdler’s Wolverhampton and Willenhall offices.
