Employment Law Updates on Retirement Issues- 18/03/2011

Hosted by Tracy Worthington, Partner and Head of FBC Manby Bowdler’s Employment Department, the 60 minute briefing will help advise employers on the implications of the abolition of the default retirement age and what they need to do to prepare for the changes.

“From 1 October, employers will no longer be able to retire people compulsorily at the age of 65. Retiring workers will depend on their capabilities, or rather lack of them to carry out their job,” explains Mrs Worthington.

“These new regulations are a potential minefield, which are starting to affect all organisations, so this session is a must for all employers, HR personnel and anyone responsible for managing staff at all levels.”

The Update will also provide the latest on the regulations to give agency workers the same rights as full time employees and a review of recent cases.

The sessions are taking place in Wolverhampton 29th March, Telford 30th March and Shrewsbury 31st March. All three sessions will run from 8.30am to 9.30am and are free to attend. Participants can register by contacting FBC Manby Bowdler’s marketing team via email on marketing@fbcmb.co.uk.

With 35 partners, FBC Manby Bowdler is one of the largest law firms in the West Midlands. The firm has offices in Wolverhampton, Willenhall, Telford, Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth.
