FBC Manby Bowdler Set to Build on 2010 Success- 13/01/2011

2010 proved to be a successful year for Wolverhampton law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP. The ‘Lawyers’ Bible’, The Legal 500 ranked it as the best law firm in the city for corporate and commercial work, planning, intellectual property and wills estate and probate.

FBC Manby Bowdler was ranked in the top tier of corporate and commercial law firms in the West Midlands, based outside Birmingham. Corporate partners Kam Johal and Gavin Southall were singled out for praise by the Legal 500 which said that the firm provides “the full service without all the tag on fees that you get in City firms”.

In other categories, no other law firm based in Wolverhampton was ranked higher for its advice on litigation, employment matters, agriculture, family matters, licensing and personal injury.

In 2010 from its Wolverhampton and Willenhall offices, FBC Manby Bowdler advised key local organisations such as City of Wolverhampton College, DayMen International and Jennings Funeral Directors on expansion plans, as well as winning compensation for a number of individuals after they injured themselves at “Cheeky Monkey” nightclub events.

Across its three Shropshire offices, in Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth, FBC Manby Bowdler expanded the range of legal services it offers to individuals and businesses and increased its solicitor numbers. In its Shrewsbury office alone it appointed a new head of family law, added to its litigation team, and boosted its residential conveyancing team.

In 2011 the firm aims to further improve what is already the most comprehensive range of quality, partner-led, legal services in Wolverhampton and Shropshire, despite the on-going challenges facing the local and national economy.

James Sage, Partner and Head of Corporate said: “We are one of the largest law firms in the entire West Midlands and Shropshire regions, which means we can bring enormous and experienced resources to bear on our clients’ legal problems, but at the same time our partners in our local offices offer an accessible and personal service, founded on the nearly 200 years we have been part of the local communities which we serve.”

In 2011 FBC Manby Bowdler will also continue to play a major role in the cultural, sporting and business life of Wolverhampton and Shropshire.

The firm has helped ensure the continued success of Wolverhampton Business Breakfast Club, where one of its Associates has taken over as joint chair and it will continue to organise the Wolverhampton HR Forum. On a sporting note, for the fourth consecutive year FBC Manby Bowdler is the main sponsor of the Shropshire Cricket League.

The firm also has a 10 year sponsorship of the third floor gallery area at Shrewsbury’s new Theatre Severn, and will continue its sponsorship of key agricultural shows throughout the year, as well as holding regular seminars for the business and rural communities on topics such as employment, planning regulations and agricultural business issues.
