Meeting to tackle employee absenteeism- 08/06/2012
Dealing with employees’ long and short term sickness absence will be the main topic for the next Wolverhampton HR (Human Resources) User Group meeting on Wednesday 13 June, which is open to anyone responsible for human resources.
“With four in ten organisations reporting an increase in absences due to long term illness, and the recent decline in the overall sickness absence rate flattening off, it is as vital as ever for managers and human resources specialists to understand how to reduce absenteeism,” explains employment lawyer Tracy Worthington, who will be addressing the HR User Group meeting and answering questions.
“We will be discussing pro-active approaches to managing sickness and sharing successful approaches and experiences.”
Meetings and membership of the Wolverhampton HR User Group are free to anyone with an HR responsibility working in and around Wolverhampton.
Julie Caswell is HR Director at Connect Group, the Wolverhampton-based integrated marketing and communications agency. She says: “Having the HR responsibility for 120 staff can sometimes be a pretty lonely place to be, especially if there is no one else to turn to within your organisation.
“The HR User Group gives me the support I need and also a chance to meet like minded people that often find themselves in the same position, facing the same difficulties on a day to day basis. “
The next meeting takes place at the George Street offices of Wolverhampton law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP at 12.45pm on Wednesday 13th June. Anyone interested in attending should contact Gavin Gill on tel. 01902 392440 or email. g.gill@fbcmb.co.uk
