New Chairs at Wolverhampton Business Breakfast Club- 06/09/2010
Wolverhampton Business Breakfast Club (WBBC) has appointed two new Chairs.
Andrew Verlander, an associate at Wolverhampton law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP and Steve Allcott, Operations Manager, Intelligent Career Development Ltd, University of Wolverhampton, took over from the out going Chair Nigel Babb, Director of Strategic Developments at the University of Wolverhampton, at the club’s September meeting.
30 business people from in and around Wolverhampton heard Jenny Long and Chris Shears from Wolverhampton City Council speak about finditinwolverhampton.co.uk, the council’s new business website to encourage more local contract opportunities, and the council’s new package of business grants.
Founded in 1985, Wolverhampton Business Breakfast Club meets from 7am to 8.45am on the first Wednesday of each month at The Goldthorn Hotel and Leisure Club, Penn Road, Wolverhampton, to hear a keynote speaker and provide members and their guests with the opportunity to network and raise their profile.
Rather than paying visiting speakers, the club has a policy of making a donation to a charity of their choice. Recent donations have gone to the Harry Lance Memorial Fund which raises funds for brain tumour research.
Mr Verlander, who is based in FBC Manby Bowdler’s office in George Street in Wolverhampton said: “Steve and I are delighted to take over as joint chairs of the WBBC at a time when opportunities are opening up in the city and beyond for businesses to work together more. Nigel has done a great job in his time as chair and we hope to build on this success and provide a first class arena where Wolverhampton’s business community can meet each month.”
