“Singing Solicitor” is New Head of Family Law For Shrewsbury- 11/08/2010
Shropshire law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has appointed a new head of Family Law at its Shrewsbury office.
John Bowen takes over this role from Elizabeth Cleverley who is moving to the firm’s Wolverhampton office.
A resident of South Shropshire for more than 10 years, Mr Bowen will advise clients on a full range of family matters including divorce, cohabitation agreements and disputes, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, ancillary relief, private law children work and injunctive proceedings to protect members of the family from harassment.
Before qualifying as a solicitor specialising in family law, Mr Bowen trained as a professional musician. He was a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral, a choral scholar at Kings’ College Cambridge and finally trained at the Royal College of Music. He then pursued a varied career as a soloist in the fields of opera, concerts and recordings, performing in Florence, Brussels, New York, London, Antwerp and as a regular soloist at the Staatsoper Berlin and at the Innsbruck Summer Festival.
He is still active in the world of music, most notably now as a tenor soloist with Shrewsbury Choral Society and the Marches Choral Society at events such as the Ludlow Festival and he has sung at the Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury on a number of occasions.
Mr Bowen said: “I am delighted to move to work full time in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury with the local community which I already know well.”
Mr Bowen will be supported in his new role by a full team of family lawyers in Shrewsbury and FBC Manby Bowdler’s Telford, Bridgnorth, Wolverhampton and Willenhall offices.
