Turnover boost for Shrewsbury office of law firm- 07/09/2011

Local law firm FBC Manby Bowdler LLP has revealed a significant increase in turnover at its Shrewsbury office in the past 12 months.

Annual fee income, for the year to 31 March 2011, increased by more than 15% at the law firm which has its Shrewsbury office on Shrewsbury Business Park.

This performance contributed to the growth of the firm as whole in Shropshire. It also has offices in Telford and Bridgnorth.

“This is a strong performance given current economic circumstances. We have seen growth in all our offices and disciplines, but particularly in our Shrewsbury office and in corporate work, commercial property, and wills, trusts and estate planning,” said partner Jane Hughes, who is based in the firm’s Shrewsbury office.

“Our good financial performance shows that our clients appreciate the quality of advice which we provide for them across all areas of law, which is supported by many independent endorsements.”

In its 2010 edition the Legal 500 ranked FBC Manby Bowdler as the best law firm in Shropshire for corporate and commercial work, commercial property, planning and intellectual property, while no other law firm in the county was ranked higher for its advice on litigation, employment matters, agriculture, family matters, wills estate and probate, licensing and personal injury.

In May this year (2011) the firm also retained two independent quality marks - The Law Society Lexcel Practice Management Standard and the ISO 9001:2008 (Lawnet) Standard, which verify that FBC Manby Bowdler is meeting the highest management and customer care standards.

In the past 12 months the firm has made new appointments in its Shrewsbury office, including a new head of family law and a new litigation lawyer, as well as recruiting Margaret Rowe from Hatchers as a partner in its Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning team.

Stuart Rea, corporate partner in the Shrewsbury office said: “We are one of the largest law firms in the entire West Midlands region, which means we can bring enormous and experienced resources to bear on our clients’ legal problems, but at the same time our partners in our local offices offer an accessible and personal service, founded on the nearly 200 years we have been part of the local communities which we serve.”

FBC Manby Bowdler also plays a major role in Shrewsbury’s cultural, sporting and business life.

For the fourth consecutive year FBC Manby Bowdler is the main sponsor of the Shropshire Cricket League. It has a 10 year sponsorship of the third floor gallery area at Shrewsbury’s new Theatre Severn, and also sponsors a number of agricultural shows throughout the year, as well as holding regular seminars for the business and rural communities on topics such as employment, planning regulations and agricultural business issues.
