Motoring Offences
Drink Driving
Both the consequences of this and the penalties are severe. You will be looking at best at a minimum 12 month driving ban if you are found guilty or plead guilty. At worst, depending upon the amount of alcohol in your system, the circumstances of the drink driving/in charge offence and your previous driving history, you could be looking at a 5 year driving ban and/or 26 weeks in jail.
The police have to follow strict procedures when dealing with you at the roadside or station. There may also be occasions when, again, even if you were over the permitted limit, it would be appropriate for the Court, having heard the facts, to find that ‘special reasons’ exist so that a driving ban is avoided/ reduced.
