Town and Country Planning

Town & Country Planning is really all about land use; which means it inevitably can be a controversial issue.

Town and Country Planning

We work for and with developers, the business community, private individuals, landowners, and public authorities. Our Planning team are in the business of persuading key decision makers about whether a particular development is a good thing or a bad thing. We can act for people and businesses making planning proposals but can also represent those opposed to development proposals. Decisions are made using detailed laws, policies, guidelines and principles and it’s our job to understand them and use powers of persuasion and advocacy to advance our clients’ cases.

We handle work relating to large and small proposals, but we are often brought in to help in the more contentious aspects of planning applications, or with large scale developments, including those needing environmental appraisal. We also handle all kinds of planning appeals, following on from planning authority refusals.

The team have considerable experience in challenging planning decisions in the High Court, and have taken cases in the Court of Appeal and House of Lords.

“However complex a matter, there are few situations we have not encountered or dealt with before.  Whether advising a private individual or a business, our expertise and knowledge is well-known."
