Another excellent EEF conference
It's been just over a week since the 2017 EEF National Manufacturing Conference.
Once again over 800 manufacturers and supporters of the sector gathered in London to network and listen to the impressive line up of individuals debate a wide range of topics including:
• Where next for UK Manufacturing in the global economy
• Making Britain the best place to do manufacturing - a global perspective
• And Digitising supply chains in a global environment
Hosted by the hilarious Steph McGovern, we were welcomed by Terry Scuoler, Chief Executive at EEF and Ian Isaac, MD, Lombard, who one again were the headline sponsor.
The main political parties were represented, with both Greg Clark MP and John McDonnell MP taking to the stage to give us their view of how manufacturing was performing and how key it will be to our success as a country over the next few years.
Among the speakers was Martin Wolf CBE, Chief Economics Commentator, Financial Times who was great value once again, giving us honest and forthright views on the world and, Juergen Maier, Chief Executive, Siemens plc, who was so proud that their most productive factory in the world was in the UK, it was hard not to be enthused.
The closing keynote speaker was none other than Jo Malone MBE. What a journey she has been on! She kept everyone captivated throughout with her inspirational story and given the levels of passion displayed I was left in no doubt that there would be another book, sometime in the future.
I could go on and on, but really, words can't do justice to such an excellent conference that once again left us in no doubt that despite all the challenges, UK Manufacturing was in a good shape.
