Legal and financial advice on offer at Arable Event
Farmers and business owners battled the heat to attend The Arable Event near Weston Park on 21 June to meet experts and suppliers from the sector.
Experts from FBC Manby Bowdler co-hosted a stand with accountants Whittingham Riddell at the event on June 21.
Partner Tom Devey and Solicitor Anna Russell from the Agricultural and Rural Services Team held successful consultations during the morning whilst colleagues Sarah Baugh, a Partner in the same team and Trainee Solicitor Sam Roberts from the Wills, Probate & Lifetime Planning Department were available during the afternoon.
The Partners are both Fellows of the Agricultural Law Association (ALA) and the team regularly receives top tier ranking in Legal 500 and Chambers guides, which recommend the best law firms and lawyers in the UK.
The Agricultural and Rural Services team advises on all aspects of issues from land sales to succession planning, agricultural tenancies, diversification, the Common Agricultural Policy, equine matters, sporting rights and farm and estate management.
Sarah said: “We have been attending The Arable Event since its inception and, in that time, it has become a significant event for farmers. With it taking place shortly after the General Election and with Britain’s withdrawal from the EU still pending, it was worth talking about how farmers may be impacted legally. But there are always issues affecting land owners and farmers from diversification, land deals, and tenancies, to estate and succession planning."
Tom Devey added: "Although the day was very hot, the event attracted nearly 1200 visitors which enabled us a team to catch up with some familiar faces but also network with other exhibitors throughout the day. The guest speakers were well received with the topic of 'Brexit - What now for Farmers' being a huge success, as it prompted conversation of how this may impact farmers legally. Safe to say, we look forward to the event next year."
