Interested in a career in Law?

FBCMB is delighted to be able to offer work experience placements for 2nd-year 6th form students who can prove their interest in a career within the Law Industry.

We are committed to being able to show students who have a real desire for a career in law the critically important contribution each individual makes towards a successful firm that offers stellar service to its clients and community.

Typically we work with GCSE students to help them understand how a law firm operates and the support functions that ensure success. For A-Level and graduate students, we are able to include time within specific departments that specialise in different areas of the law.

What Our People Say

"I applied to undertake my work experience at FBC Manby Bowdler following a recommendation from a family member. I was unsure as to what career direction I wanted to take so decided to apply and see if the legal sector was right for me. Whilst doing my work experience I was able to work in a range of business support departments such as Marketing, Accounts and IT Support which I found beneficial. The process of applying was extremely straight forward and clear. I would highly recommend FBC Manby Bowdler to others looking to undertake a work experience placement. Following my work experience placement I applied and was accepted for a Business Support Apprenticeship within the Firm’s IT Department. I have since completed my apprenticeship and have progressed into the role of IT Support & Development Analyst."

Work Experience

Qualified in September 2020

"I attended FBC’s Redditch office for 2 weeks in August 2020, assisting mainly in the family department alongside Helen Hanson over the course of my placement. I chose FBC to do this placement period due to their strong community values and willingness to accept me during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a supporter of Birmingham Bears cricket club and a follower of University of Wolverhampton Racing team, I knew that the firm had strong corporate ties and operated with local sports teams across the West Midlands, and I hoped that undertaking work experience would show me the more private and personal side of their legal services. As a student hoping to achieve a solicitor’s apprenticeship following my A levels, work experience is a vital step in showing enthusiasm and proactive learning, and my 2 weeks at FBC provided me with plenty of useful skills and understanding of the sector. During my time, I worked on many physical and digital projects, ranging from writing up client meetings and sorting files, to creating new spreadsheets and learning about the newly implemented workflows. Working in a busy office with multiple departments gave me a good insight to how law firms operate as a whole, with different sectors sharing resources and expert knowledge. I found the applications process very simple with excellent communication on deciding on a suitable time-frame. I would definitely recommend doing work experience with FBC due to the skills gained and contacts made following the process."
