We are looking for an ambitious Solicitor, with Court of Protection experience to join our team in Wolverhampton.

We have a strong and clear succession plan for this role, so you will be ambitious and have at least 4 years PQE. Experience of Court of Protection Work is essential.

The role will entail:

  1. Mixture of drafting all manner of COP applications (such as property and affairs applications, , Statutory Will applications ,Trustee applications and lay deputy applications
  2. Management of high value professional deputyship appointments
  3. Work closely with the firms personal injury department in respect of catastrophic cases as well as other firms of solicitors who refer clients
  4. Support of litigation department in respect of contested matters

This team is highly regarded and often works on long cases, for clients who have suffered life changing injuries.

Previous experience of working within a Personal Injury team is important, as is the ability to focus on detail and support a number of Senior Solicitors and Partners.

  • To assist in the provision of administrative and legal services for clients and their representatives.
  • To assist where requested with the provision of legal advice to client, under supervision.

We are looking to recruit a Solicitor to join our exceptional team dealing with predominantly moderate to high value Multi Track and Catastrophic injury claims.

Working as part of the Personal Injury team you will be handling and assisting with moderate to high value claims, involving brain injuries and other catastrophic injuries.

You will already have extensive experience of representing individuals and be proficient at:

  • Taking initial client instructions and analysing legal issues including liability.
  • Instructing experts including medico-legal experts in a variety of specialisms, accident reconstruction experts, employment experts, accommodation experts, care/occupational therapy experts, assistive technology experts.
  • Written and oral communication with other professionals including investigating police officers, third party legal representatives, case managers, support workers.
  • Interviewing clients and witnesses and drafting lay witness evidence.
  • Reviewing and considering various documents including medical records, case manager and support worker records, expert reports, DWP records, HMRC records, occupational / personnel records, police collision reports, HSE papers.
  • Undertaking legal research including quantum analysis with reference to JC Guidelines and case law.
  • Delegation of appropriate work to litigation assistants / trainee solicitors and supervision of junior members of the team. 
  • Drafting instructions to counsel.
    Independently attending conferences with counsel, clients, experts, lay witnesses.
  • Independently attending / conducting hearings in person and via telephone.
  • Drafting documents including letters, claim forms, particulars of claim, draft orders, consent orders schedules of loss with reference to Ogden Tables.
