FBCMB operates training programmes that support trainee solicitors, CILEx students and apprentices to qualify as solicitors.
In the past 2 years, our intake of individuals to those programmes has grown from approx.. 3 recruits per year to approx.. 8 recruits per year. We are really proud of the training opportunities we provide to those Exceptional People who want to progress their careers in law with us.
However, there are changes afoot to the way a solicitor qualifies which will mean that we need to do things a bit differently in future. Those changes are not yet settled by the SRA so we are left to ‘watch this space’ for the moment. In light of these anticipated changes and because we take the training of our staff very seriously, we have decided to put a hold on our trainee recruitment for 2018. That means we will not be recruiting for trainee solicitors, CILEx to Solicitor trainees or apprentices this year (2018) whether from within our business or from our external recruitment.
We haven’t taken this decision lightly. Even our most senior of Partners can’t remember the last time we didn’t recruit for trainees: but we know that this short break from recruitment will mean that our training programmes maintain their high standards and reputation throughout the changes that are coming to the Profession.
