Solicitors spreads road safety message in schools

05/12/2019

School children from Wolverhampton have been learning important lessons about staying safe on the roads, thanks to a firm of city solicitors.

Law firm FBC Manby Bowdler organised a special assembly for pupils at the Royal School Wolverhampton and sponsored a competition for children to design a poster highlighting key road safety messages as part of the annual Road Safety Week.

The assembly was led by the charity BRAKE, which leads the annual awareness campaign that aims to reduce the number of deaths and injuries on our roads.

FBC Manby Bowdler also promoted the safety campaign with a number of banners promoting road safety messages on key routes around Wolverhampton during November.

Prospective parliamentary candidates Pat McFadden and Eleanor Smith and Paul Lever, Professional Lead – Road Safety Training and Promotion at Wolverhampton City Council judged the winning entries at a special assembly on November 29, awarding three joint first places along with second and third prizes.

Tim Gray, a Partner in our Personal Injury team, said: “Spreading the message about safe road use is particularly important to this age group. We hope that the assembly and poster competition has made them more aware of the potential dangers and how to use roads safely.

“In our practice as specialist personal injury lawyers, we often see the devastating consequences of incidents involving pedestrians and cars, which is why we support campaigns like this by organising events like this.”

Head Teacher of the primary school, Mark Mitchell, added: “It is so important that children learn how to keep themselves safe around traffic, especially growing up in a busy city environment. This project has been superb in helping us to raise awareness with our children.”

FBC Manby Bowdler is a member of the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum, a national network of dedicated brain injury lawyers and related professional services providing a gateway to support, information and advice for brain injured people, their families and carers.

It is also a member of Headway and features in the brain injury association’s specialist Head Injury Solicitors Directory as well as working closely with the Child Brain Injury Trust.
