18 Sep 2019

FBC Manby Bowdler has been named Best Business and Commercial Law Firm in the 2019 SME Business Elite Awards.

The title recognises the firm for providing the best services and products to clients and was adjudicated following months of qualitative and quantitative research by SME News.

It is the latest accolade for FBC Manby Bowdler, which is one of the Midlands’ fastest growing law firms. It has built its reputation on providing stellar legal service to a growing portfolio of regional and national clients including SMEs.

The firm is already recognised in leading independent law directories Chambers and The Legal 500.

Sales director Neil Lloyd said the firm was delighted to have scooped the award.

Neil said: "This is an outstanding accolade for FBC Manby Bowdler, which is dedicated to delivering stellar legal services with our client-focused approach and quality advice.

"We pride ourselves on working in partnership with our clients to deliver innovative and cost-transparent legal advice that adds value and uncomplicates the legal process.

“We also work in partnership with businesses, and as a result have developed specific services to support their needs, particularly in relation to Brexit and HS2 in the last 18 months."

FBC Manby Bowdler's Brexit Director is EU legal expert, Peter Wildling. Peter, credited with inventing the word 'Brexit' now works alongside FBC Manby Bowdler's business and commercial clients to help them 'Brexit-proof' their business.

The firm's commercial teams specialise across a range of sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, technology and media, charities and not for profit, construction, education, professional services, and retail and leisure.

Neil added: “It’s no surprise, given our depth of experience and expertise in advising manufacturers, that we are increasingly the source of go-to advice on how to deal with the implications of Brexit and a number of other regulatory issues connected with both domestic and international trade.

“SMEs are the backbone of the British economy and we are working with a host of growing businesses keen to take advantage of the services we offer, whether that’s supporting them with employment issues, data protection or mergers and acquisitions.”

The Legal 500 directory said the commercial team at FBC Manby Bowdler was “one of the strongest in the region”, calling it a “stellar and slick firm which combines quality and experience, is easy to work with and always well-prepared.”

The firm, which has offices across Shropshire and the West Midlands, has expanded in the last year. It acquired highly-respected lawyers Kerwoods in Redditch in a move which saw it become one of the top 150 legal firms in the country.

Employing more than 200 people, the firm is also officially one of the Best Companies to Work in the UK. Rated as an ‘outstanding’ employer, the guide is based on employee feedback and compiled by the team behind the Sunday Time Best Place to Work directory.
