Today, the Daily Telegraph has revealed its list of the top 50 women in engineering as part of a day of activities to celebrate the role of women working in industry.
FBC Manby Bowdler is passionate about supporting not only the engineering and manufacturing sector, but also about developing the skills of the workforce which will be needed for the future. And we will need more female engineers in this workforce.
As well as supporting National Women in Engineering Day (#NWED16) today, we are also sponsoring the inaugural Women in Engineering award at the Made in the Midlands Awards later this year.
The Award will recognise engineering ability and competences, highlight the vital contribution of women in engineering workplaces, and can be entered by any woman working within a Midlands manufacturing role, ranging from shop floor to boardroom level.
The vision of the Women's Engineering Society, the organisation behind #NWED, is a nation in which women are as likely as men to choose to study and work in engineering, and one in which there are enough engineers to meet a growing demand.
It's a vision we at FBC Manby Bowdler fully support – and we're delighted to be doing our bit to help inspire the next generation of women engineers.
