An event to help elderly people better understand their finances and protect their assets against the high cost of care will be held in Church Stretton next month.
Lawyers at FBC Manby Bowdler will host the free event on Tuesday, October 8, at the Silvester Home Institute on High Street.
People attending will be given important advice on why understanding the care system matters as well as guidance on protecting their assets from care fees.
They will also hear how to stay in control of their finances when facing the care system and be given advice on whether it’s necessary to sell their home to pay for care.
Graham Fuller, a Senior Associate in the firm’s Wills, Probate and Lifetime Planning team, said: “With council budgets under increasing pressure and promised government reforms a way off, protecting assets against the high cost of care is a subject which is understandably concerning for many older people.
“However, there are some positive steps which people can take to manage their financial future and this event aims to highlight some of these things and also answer any questions which people may have.
“When it comes to taking control of future finances, there is no one size fits all approach to planning so the important thing is getting the right advice before you need it.
“We’re hoping this event will provide a good starting point for those considering their long-term care needs and we look forward to welcoming people to the event.”
