FBC Manby Bowdler makes the grade in prestigious legal guide
Five departments and seven lawyers at FBC Manby Bowdler have been featured in the latest edition of a prestigious independent legal guide to the country’s best operators.
Chambers & Partners, which identifies and ranks the most outstanding law firms and lawyers annually, awarded three of FBC Manby Bowdler’s departments in Shropshire - Agricultural & Rural Services, Family & Matrimonial, and Private Client - the top possible status of Band 1.
The firm’s Family & Matrimonial team in Wolverhampton and the Midlands-wide Litigation team also made the grade, achieving bandings in the guide.
Six of the lawyers recognised were from the firm’s Shropshire arm. They were Telford based Anne Thomson, Head of the firm’s Family department, and Elizabeth Cleverley, a Partner in the same team in Shrewsbury, Steven Corfield, who leads the county’s Agricultural & Rural Services team at Shrewsbury, and his colleague Sarah Baugh.
Philip Cowell, a Partner in Telford’s Family department, was given the status of a ‘recognised practitioner’ while Tom Devey, another lawyer in the Agricultural & Rural Services team, was ranked as ‘up and coming’.
Wolverhampton based Guy Birkett, who heads up the 20-strong Litigation team that is one of the largest West Midlands teams outside Birmingham, was also named as a ranked lawyer.
Managing Partner Kim Carr said: “This is an outstanding result for FBC Manby Bowdler and has built on the success of last year when two departments and six lawyers were included in the Chambers guide.
“The ratings are a reflection of the hard work and stellar customer service we deliver to our clients and are particularly gratifying for us as they are based on independent research and customer feedback.”
Earlier this year the 2016 Legal 500 Directory named FBC Manby Bowdler as a top tier firm for Agriculture & Estates, Contentious Trusts & Probate, Family, and Commercial Litigation.
The firm now employs more than 200 people at five offices in Wolverhampton and Shropshire and has an annual turnover of nearly £12 million.
